C. H. Atma

C.H. Atma was a playback singer in Hindi language films, ghazal singer and film actor. He was born in 1923 in Hyderabad (Sind), now in Pakistan. His real name was Atma Hashmatrai Chainani. He was a part of the first playback singers' troupe from India to tour and sing outside India in Nairobi, East Africa in 1957, the star of the troupe being Talat Mahmood. He fell ill after his singing tour to England in 1975 and died eight months later on 6 December 1975, aged 52.
